• Requirements: You must prove a recurring, stable passive income (e.g., rental income, dividends, pension) from outside of Chile. Salaries or freelance income generally do not qualify for the classic Rentista visa, though immigration officers have broad discretion. The unwritten minimum is usually around $1,500 - $2,000 USD per month.
• The Process: You apply online via the SERMIG portal before entering the country. Processing times are notoriously slow (often 6-12 months).

Start-Up Chile

If you have an early-stage tech startup, the government-backed Start-Up Chile accelerator is world-famous. If accepted, you receive an equity-free grant (ranging from $10k to $80k), a 1-year work visa, and a fast track to permanent residency.
