Open a Bank Account in Serbia
Planning your move to Serbia? Here is everything you need to know about open a bank account for digital nomads and expats in 2026.
- The White Card (Beli karton): Within 24 hours of arriving in Serbia, you must register your address at the local police station to get a White Card. If you stay in an Airbnb or hotel, the host usually does this for you online. If you rent an apartment, the landlord must go with you to the police station. You cannot open a bank account without this.
- Banking: Mobi Banka and Raiffeisen are the most modern. Mobi Banka allows you to manage multiple currencies (EUR, RSD, USD) within one account and withdraw EUR cash directly from their ATMs.
- The Dinar (RSD): Serbia is a cash-heavy society. You will need Serbian Dinars for bakeries (pekare), green markets, and small cafes.
