The D8 Digital Nomad Visa (2026 Updates)
- Income Threshold: As of 2026, you must prove a minimum monthly income of €3,680 (four times the Portuguese minimum wage).
- Remote Work Proof: You must provide a valid work contract or freelance agreements showing that your income is generated entirely outside of Portugal.
- Duration: The D8 is initially issued as a 4-month entry visa, which you then convert into a 2-year residence permit upon arriving in Portugal. It can be renewed for an additional 3 years. After 5 years of legal residency, you can apply for Portuguese citizenship.
