  • The Codice Fiscale: This is your Italian tax code. You can actually apply for this at the Italian consulate before you move. You absolutely need it for everything: banking, signing a lease, getting a SIM card, or buying a coffee machine on Amazon.
  • Opening an Account: Traditional banks (Intesa Sanpaolo, UniCredit) will require your physical Permesso di Soggiorno. Since that takes months, most nomads use Illimity Bank or Fineco (which are digital-first) or simply rely on Revolut (which now offers local IT IBANs).
