Digital Nomad Visa & Immigration in Estonia
Planning your move to Estonia? Here is everything you need to know about digital nomad visa & immigration for digital nomads and expats in 2026.
Estonia is the most digitally advanced society in the world, famous for its e-Residency program. However, e-Residency is not a visa; it does not give you the right to enter or live in Estonia.
The Digital Nomad Visa (DNV)
Estonia was the first country in the world to launch a formal DNV.
- Requirements: You must prove a stable monthly income of at least €3,504 (gross of tax) for the 6 months prior to applying. You must work remotely for a foreign employer or as a freelancer with foreign clients.
- Duration: Valid for up to 1 year.
- The Schengen Limit: While you get an Estonian DNV, it does not bypass the 90/180-day rule for the rest of the Schengen area. You must spend the majority of your time in Estonia.
The e-Residency Program
- If you just want to run an EU-based company from your laptop anywhere in the world, you apply for e-Residency. You get a government-issued smart card that allows you to establish and manage an Estonian OÜ (Private Limited Company) entirely online.
